Using the Catalogue Search

Overview

The Catalogue search app allows publishers to display information about books and authors that can be categorised in a number of ways. It allows extended information to be shown in the form of a pop-up for each book/author that can then direct users to e-commerce sites and interactive excerts.

To power the app we take an XML feed and import this into our database (NB: If there is no XML feed book/author details can be added manually through Editor5).

From this point, users can overwrite the information we stored to suit the use of the app. For example, presenting bigger images and different links. The app then connects to our database where it retrieves the information. Information is cached for 24 hours to keep loading speeds to a minimum.

Through our Editor 5 component, publishing clients can later amend image sizes, book titles, category headings and much more.

Selecting and applying the tool

Unlike most our our simple-to-use tools, the Catalogue Search requires some configuration from our technical team.
